FAQ

THE BASICS OF A DOG WALK

What happens during a dog walk?

MMP comes to your home during the time block you choose. We access your home via a garage or door code or you can purchase a lockbox to keep a key on site. We greet your dog, check water bowls to rinse and refill if needed then using your harness and leash go for a walk. We are with your dog for 25 minutes.

Can you walk both my dogs?

MPP will walk all of your dogs together or separately, your choice, for 25 minutes. First dog is included in price, each additional dog is at an additional fee. If you would like longer walks, you are welcome to stack walks. We only walk your dogs together. We do not combine families into a pack walk for your dog’s safety.

Can you walk my dogs separately?

Yes, you can schedule multiple walks or we can split the time. Clients have separated walks due to behavior, or age and energy level of dogs.

My dog needs a really long walk.

Your dog might enjoy a hound hike! A romp at a dog friendly location. A chance to explore new smells and wet on different bushes- a pup’s delight! We drive your dog or dogs (just your’s-not a pack) to a trail or park for on-leash fun & exercise. After toweling off, we return home, refresh water and kiss your pups with a “Sweet Dreams” because a nap will definitely occur next.

Will you walk my dog while I am out of town?

We will continue to walk your dog on schedule even if you have a pet sitter taking care of your dog morning and night. We have even come to kennels to provide additional exercise. Since our hours are limited to 9am -6pm we typically don’t provide pet sitting services. Exceptions include if your dog has a dog door and can access a fenced yard for potty breaks between 6pm and 9am while we are closed.

Will you walk my dog if I am home?

We will come to your home to walk your dog even if you are home. Lots of our clients work from home, have physical limitations or simply other priorities that make having a dog walker a good choice.

When will you walk my dog?

We walk dogs 7 days a week except major holidays between 9am – 6pm. You can schedule your walk within a 2 hour block. In our 18 years of dog walking experience we have found we shouldn’t commit to a specific time because working with animals means surprises occur 🙂

THE BASICS OF CAT SITTING

What happens during a cat sitting?

Feeding, scooping, medication, playtime all included! We access your home via a garage or door code or you can purchase a lockbox to keep a key on site. Not only do we care for your kitties but also your home. Included in our visit is plant watering, mail/ package collection, cleaning of the pet areas, security of home and trash bin to curb and back on the proper day.

Why do I need a cat sitter?

If your cats are like mine, (Blue & Ivy) they like to be the king and queen of their castle. They are happy to be served in their own home, drink from their own fountain and nap under their own bed or shelf of their closet on your favorite sweater. That is why Monroe Pet Pro comes to you!

Can you medicate my pet?

Cat medication tips from our 18 years of experience medicating other people’s cats.

  • Please keep doors closed to confine your cat to limited hiding spots so we have the best chance of catching your cat.
  • If your cat scratches when getting oral meds, leave a towel designated to wrap cat in.
  • You may choose to board your pet at your vets office in the following cases:
    • If medication is life/ death situation
    • If exact timing is critical
    • If medication is required before 9am or after 6pm.
  • We understand many cats are on 12 hour diabetes treatment. We have heard from veterinarians that the smaller time window was fine for vacation and better than the stress of a new location but please confirm with your vet before making that decision.

THE BASICS OF MONROE PET PRO

What can I expect with Monroe Pet Pro?

Please create an account, including your address on the My Info tab and instructions on the Pets tab.

Next we confirm when you would like to start your walks or cat visits.

Then, we schedule a meet & greet where we come to you to see routine, confirm care and home access.

Finally, you get pics of your pets happy at home at each of our visits.

What kind of animals do you pet sit?

Not only dog walks and cat sits but we also pet sit birds, rabbits, chinchillas, sugar gliders, iguanas, bearded dragons, snakes, rats, frogs, fish, guinea pigs, pocket pets, lizards, & ferrets. We have walked and scratched behind the ears of just about every breed of dog and cat.

How do you access my home?

We have, with almost 20 years of pet & home care, found that it is best to have access to your home at your home and not to take keys with us. We purchase lockboxes in bulk and provide for you at our price or you can provide your own. You choose your code that is entered into your secure profile on the My Info tab.

Alarms: if you feel comfortable skipping the alarm, we would love that! If you set a specific code for us, PLEASE make a note in our system that reminds YOU to set the proper code when you depart to avoid the police coming!

If you foresee any issue, please email or call to discuss before the meet & greet.

Do you service my address?

We serve Monroe, GA. We are a family business so we keep our service area VERY small.

Please confirm your address is in our service area but we typically go about 8-10 miles from downtown Monroe.

How do I pay?

Payment is expected before services. For cat care, payment is due before your first visit. For dog walks, payment is due at the beginning of the month. If you need to cancel walks the payment will be rolled to credit for the following month. Payment processing is available through your profile. We strongly prefer ACH to save us on credit card fees but will make an exception if you need to use a credit card.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is no charge when canceling by 6pm the day before the service. After that, a 50% charge for any visits within 24 hours of cancellation will be charged. The other 50% will be applied to future visits. There will be a credit in your profile. If we drive to your home and you then let us know you don’t need a walk, no credit is given.

Dog walk example: Wake up in the morning and decide you don’t need a visit today? Let us know and you get a credit for 50% of a walk the next month.

Cat sit example: Coming back early from your trip and don’t need today’s visit? Let us know and you will get a credit for 50% of a future cat visit plus full credit for any visits beyond the first 24 hours after cancellation. You are only charged for what is to occur within that first 24 hours of cancellation, not the whole trip.

We are a small family business and appreciate as much schedule change notice as possible.

How do I know someone came to my home and followed my instructions?

Our online system allows you to communicate with your sitter in real time, see your scheduled visits on our calendar and make payments. At each visit, your sitter will email a quick note and usually a pic of the fun your pets are having safely at home with Monroe Pet Pro. When you get home to a relaxed pet, a swept litter area and neatly stacked mail, you will know your pets and home were handled with care.

MONROE PET PRO

We are a family run business and we consider our clients, both humans and pets, to be part of that family.
